It’s nearly the end of 2014 and we are seeing so many posts and news articles talking about predictions for 2015, particularly in the Big Data space. The one thing for sure that all the experts are convinced about is that Big Data spending will increase phenomenally and Data related jobs will be among the top tech jobs in 2015.

IDC: Top 10 Technology Predictions For 2015: As per an article in Forbes, Gil press says that worldwide IT and telecommunications spending will grow 3.8% in 2015 to more than $3.8 trillion. Nearly all of this spending growth and one third of total spending will be focused on new technologies such as mobile, cloud, big data analytics and the Internet of Things.

In this article 5 Big Data Skills in Demand for 2015 Ericka Chickowski, says that now is the time for IT practitioners to hone big data skills, as CIOs, CTOs and even CMOs are paying top dollar for professionals who can help in the administration and analysis of huge stores of data. Professionals trained in the interdisciplinary science of data analysis, which includes mathematical and statistical know-how, data modeling, programming and general business acumen are in big demand followed by those who know Hadoop.

Mashable in their article Developers, designers and data: The hottest tech jobs of 2015 analyzed data provided by the site Glassdoor, which aggregates reviews of jobs and companies, that ranks tech jobs according to how many employees thought business was improving in 2014 to explore which could be next year’s best bets. According to them, big data, mobile and privacy are going to be “very hot and very popular” in 2015. They say that Data science is hot because it spans industries. “What data scientists really love about their jobs right now is that they get to build a roadmap within their organizations, and answer questions that have never been asked before.”

Silicon Republic in their article Top Tech Jobs 2015 – Big data and analytics boldly say that, “The management of data is big business today, and it will continue to grow tomorrow as long as more and more devices, technologies and services harvest more and more information from society.” They also state that, jJobs in the area include analysts for many parts of the industry – managementinfrastructure, customer and QA. There’s also the creation of these environments, involving architects and designers, for example. As far as salaries go, careers in big data and analytics vary from €40,000 a year for a junior business analyst, right to €65,000 for data governance managers, €85,000 for data warehouse architects and €100,000+ for heads of data governance.
