How can an Indian retailer grow from one store to 1000?

Indian retailers have been singularly unsuccessful in building national chains. If you take away the large corporate driven initiatives like Reliance, Titan and the Future group, it is hard to find examples of retailers who grew from one store shops to pan-India chains.

Retail analytics expert, Snehamoy Mukherjee, takes a fictional super-market as an example to illustrate what a retail business needs to do in order to transform successfully into a nationwide chain.
