With IoT devices such as sensors, apps and algorithms, factories can precisely gauge the life of an equipment, understand the area of malfunction and timely send a personnel for its recovery. There are several factories and industries that already have this technology in place, where devices accurately predict the time of malfunctioning and personnel are ready to take charge of the situation. This decreases lag in productivity and brings down expenses as well.
We have mentioned the importance of IoT in agriculture in one of our previous articles and would like to reiterate as well. Today, agriculture is one of the worst-hit sectors in India. What is supposed to be fundamental hangs loose and only technology can bring about a change. With IoT, it is possible to make way for better crop yields, monitor and regulate water cycle, control germination of seeds and more. Only one requirement lies in the fact that the technology has to reach the farmlands and the farmers need to be educated on its usage.

Yes, it exists. Waste management is one of the most underestimated sectors hindering our growth and contributing to pollution and degradation. The application of IoT in waste management can make dustbins smarter and notify the authorities for collection. Besides, the data can also help analysts understand the different classes of waste materials that are dumped and find patterns to bring down waste. This can also give insights on region or area-wise details, which can be further used to initiate outreach programs tailored for a particular area and educate residents on waste management.
