Is an entrance exam necessary for MBA?

Is CAT Compulsory for MBA?

Business schools prefer candidates who’ve passed the CAT examinations. Several MBA universities do not ask for CAT tests but offer MBA admissions to help you advance your career.

You can pursue an MBA without taking the CAT, but consider the following:

  • Before enrolling for MBA at any college that gives admission without CAT, check the college accreditation by the UGC and AICTE. Some institutions in India claim to provide you with admission without the CAT exam. However, there may be not recognized by the UGC or AICTE. In that case, the MBA degree will be worthless. 
  • Send your question to the college you are enrolling for or a career counsellor. Avoid paying fees to consultants.
  • Make sure you meet all the eligibility for MBA mentioned on the college website.

Eligibility for MBA Abroad

  • The foreign colleges offer MBA programs in multiple disciplines. Aspirants seeking an MBA from a foreign university must meet the college’s eligibility criteria for MBA.
  • Candidates seeking admission to MBA Abroad must have a bachelor’s degree with a minimum aggregate score of 50% from a recognized university. They must pass the requisite language proficiency exam.

Apply for the MBA course

Candidates can apply online or in person. Applicants are free to apply to the institutions or universities of their choice. To be considered for subsequent admission rounds, one must score higher than the university’s minimum qualifying percentage.

Selection criteria for MBA

Following the written test, special group meetings and personal interview rounds are undertaken to create the final merit list of nominees. After evaluations have been completed, universities publish the results and publish a merit list of selected applicants. 

Selections are made after a variety of evaluations, namely:
